Emily Ty and Hayley's July MiniRiders Show

We had a great day over at the West Jordan Arena!  We got our usual parking spot in the shade and were ready for  some fun!  Andy stayed home because baby Lily is too small to bring to a dusty, dirty, hot horseshow so it was just me, my mom, Joe and his parents Rob and Virginia.  But we had a great day!

Hayley started out on Tahoe and got a blue in Halter and Western Pleasure but when the speed events came Tahoe decided that he was going to run a 19 like in his glory days and took off way too fast for Hay.  He ran down to the end pole and did the most beautiful turn you have ever seen but it was also at a speed that was way to much for Hay to control so they came right back down to the starting line and Tahoe went right and Hay went left so she fell off.  She was really shaken up.  When I ran out and scooped her up from the ground she cried to me and said "Hil, I am so glad that I am wearing my helmet!"  She had a mouth full of dirt and was so brave to get back on a horse and finish all of the events.  ALL THREE of the kids rode sweet little COCO! in all of the speed events.  She is such an awesome horse and I was so proud of Hayley for being so brave!

Emily's best friend from her 3rd grade class was at the show!  They were so excited to see each other!!!  Her name is Adrianna and we got to watch her run the poles.  She is in the assisted class.

This is a picture of Emily in Western Pleasure having a talk with the judge just after she backed her horse.  Emily has been having a hard time sitting up straight and keeping her toes out in front of her.  She ended up when she was trotting in the class, kicking Coco and not realizing that was what she was doing so then Coco starting to lope.  This happenend every time they were trotting so then Em started to panic and cried in the class and did a few shout outs too.  The judge had some great advice for her and I am hoping it helps her be a better rider.  It is so much easier to take from someone OTHER than your MOTHER who is always telling you what to do!

It's Not Goodbye.... It's Until We Meet Again

Today was one of the hardest days of my life. I brought Emily with me early because I needed to set up the memory video in the lobby for the viewing.  On the way there I stopped at Walgreens and bought some waterproof mascara!  SOOO glad I did that!  I totally needed it today!   Kenny came along about an hour later with Ty. I still can't believe that it's real! That she is in Heaven and won’t be at any of our family parties, functions, gatherings or just at home with Grandpa when I call or stop by. Singing a song or planning a trip or just being her cute cute self.  She always made sure we knew how much she loved us!  When she would say "I Love You" she would always have a small pause on each word and say it with meaning so that we knew just how much she meant it.  When they closed the viewing for the family prayer I was able to go up with my mom and Vicki and help put the veil over Grandma's face. It was very hard for me and I couldn't stop crying but it was a very special moment that touched me.

The funeral was so special! Filled with music and wonderful memories! They started the funeral with a Hawaiian Death Chant that was haunting and beautiful!

All of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren sang "Families Can Be Together Forever" and "The Noble Duke of York" with hand actions!!!  That was one of Grandma's favorite songs to sing to the folks at the Hillside Old Folks Home where she was Relief Society President for many years.

My sister Stephanie gave the most beautiful talk that brought back so many wonderful memories of Grandma and all we have done with her and how much we loved each other. And my mom gave a beautiful tribute talk to her mom!  Grandpa spoke so lovingly about Grandma and stated that she probably saved his life by marrying her!  That made me so happy to hear because he saved our lives by marrying her too!

After the graveside dedication we all went back to the church where the Hawaiian Civic Club threw a LUAU! With the best kalaua pork I have ever eaten!!! I know that Grandma was there and she was happy to see all of us there to remember her amazing life. Not quite sure how we will get along without her but I am sure grateful for the knowledge that we won't be without her for long!

Grandma is next to our sweet Granny.  Hard to believe that she has been gone from us for 17 years. Today I really missed her!

Kenny, My Dad, Joe and Dave from my family were pallbearers and all on the right side.  It made me proud to see them preform their duties with such care and respect.

It was a comfort to see and talk to Beverly my Grandmas only sister.  She looks so much like  her and it made things easier having her near.  I love the black lace around the neck of her blouse, it has a special memory to me.....

 I met her at Costco in Sandy a few days ago to give her the printed picture of grandma so she could take it to the bishop to be used for the program.  Beverly had just come from a friends house where she was sewing that lace on to dress it up a little bit because she had come up last Saturday to see Grandma before she passed away and didnt have anything fancy to wear to the funeral.  We walked around Costco for about an hour just talking and crying and comforting each other and tasting samples.  It was a very special experience that I will cherish forever. 

I love my sisters!  Missed getting a picture with Ade and Christy though.

What A Beautiful Bride!

My darling cousin Kathryn got married today!

She made the most beautiful bride!  My grandma's viewing was tonight so we stopped by the reception after.  It was really hard at first to get into the fun, carefree atmosphere of her wedding but my awesome brother Brian grabbed me and did a little bit of country swinging with me on the dance floor and totally took my mind off of anything sad.  The kids had a ball dancing and playing with cousins.
Her reception was at Noah's in Sandy. I have never been there but thought it was spectacular!  They had the reception out on the covered patio and everything was so Kathryn!
I do have to say that in my own personal opinion that June is the PERFECT month to get married!  I am a happy June bride.  Not too hot, not too cold.  Grass is green, trees and flowers are blooming.  Such a lovely time to say I Do!

Ali's Violin Recital

Cute Ali had a violin recital tonight. She did an amazing job. She kept in time with all the other kids and they sounded beautiful! I really loved how they had everyone play the same song together. It was so beautiful to hear all of the violins at once! Way to go Ali!!!



On a side note. As I was entering the Gym at the Riverton City Hall I got a call from Aunt Vicki. She told me that my Grandma Kalawaia passed away at about 6:30 pm. That was really hard news to hear. She hadn't been eating or drinking since last Friday when she fell out of bed. So we knew that it wouldnt be long but that didn't make it any easier to hear. I was so glad to be there with my sister Steph and I called and talked to Andy about it for few minutes which helped too. My mom and dad are driving up to Washington to pick up a horse for Hayley. Vicki said she hadn't been able to get a hold of my mom to let her know what had happenend yet. During the intermission for the recital, Steph told me that she was able to talk to my mom and let her know what happenened. Grandma! I will miss you every day until I see you again. You were the most amazing Grandma, Caretaker, Friend, Travel Buddy, Companion, Mom, Wife and I love you with all my heart! Until we meet again!

My little cute Emily got a new scarf that she just loves. She wears it all the time and wraps it around her neck or just hangs it loose and long. She is such a little cutie and stil LOVES to pose for pictures. She has her favorite poses and will very willingly show you how to do them. She cracks me up and I love her personality and how she has her very own way of doing things.
These pictures also show off her very very short bangs!!! She decided to cut her own bangs!And this is with a few weeks of growth ~ She is almost 9 years old and has never done anything like that. She came out into the living room and I was talking to her then noticed that her bangs were GONE! I said "Emily did you cut your bangs?!?!?!?!" Emily said in the sweetest most innocent voice "Yes, they were in my eyes mom". Needless to say we had a talk about cutting your own hair. I was surprise how upset Kenny was, cutting your own hair is on his notty list I guess.

Happy Anniversary Babe!

June 6, 2010..... it has been 13 years since we said "I do"! What an adventure we have been on. I have to say I love you more today than ever! I admire you more today than ever! I can't wait to see what the future holds for our little family! I love you babe!

My mom watched the kids for us so we were able to enjoy a night out. We had the most delicious meal at Carvers Steak House. I unknowingly asked the resturant manager to take a picture of us at our table and told her that it was our AnNiVeRsArY!!!! She had our server bring us out a FrEe DeSsErT ... yahoo! Then we watched the Prince of Persia, which I totally loved! It was a perfect evening with my sweetie!
