Snow Day!

December 13, 2009

Wow! Did we ever get a snow storm!!! The kids were thrilled! It was great packing snow but SO wet! By the time they came into the house their snow clothes looked like they had stood in the shower! I am so impressed with their snow-woman making skills. I was out of carrots for a nose... so they improvised. Emily used sunflower for the eyes and gave her a lovely head of hair. Ty gets so hot all the time and doesn't like wearing a full hat so he was wearing Emily's ear muffs. You know, I have looked all over the place! They do not sell those for boys. Ty is so bummed about that. He also dropped his gloves in the snow in the front yard and I found them a few days later so I threw them in the wash so he is wearing Emily's gloves too. Makes me giggle a bit.

My Pilgrim

December 6, 2009

You know when your kids create that master piece from school and you want to throw it away and you are met with much weeping and wailing!??!?! Ty created this work of art for the "Thanksgiving feast" at school. He loved it so it was moved from place to place in the kitchen. I finally told him that it had to go. He was NOT happy about that. I told him we would take a picture of it that way he could remember it forever. This is the best picture I got out of the three I took... the other two he has that if looks could kill look! I am glad he is proud of his work so I thought this picture was blog worthy :)

The Kids Saw Santa

November 30, 2009

WOW! It is that time already! Riverton City had their annual winter party at the Community Center so we went over after Ty was finished with Karate. It was a blast! They had warm scones and hot chocolate. And several fire pits to roast marshmellows. A cookie station, a craft station and best of all Santa and Mrs. Claus!
The kids both sat on Santa's lap. Ty asked for a telescope and a microscope and Emily kept her wishes a secret.
Before we went home we took a hay ride on a big trailer pulled by a tractor.
It was really fun to get into the spirit of Christmas and its not even December yet! Love it!

The Perfect Sunday Afternoon Picnic

November 29, 2009

Kenny had a great idea to take a picnic up the canyon with the kids. I packed a back pack full of food and off we went!
We decided to go up American Fork Canyon and find a picnic spot. We drove up to Tibble Fork Lake, it was just beautiful! The sun was on its way down and the lake was mostly frozen over. It was about 48 degrees at our house when we left. By the time we got up to the canyon it was in the 30's and when we left it was 28 degrees! Burrrr! We stayed at the lake until we were too cold then got in the car with the heater on full blast and headed to find a picnic spot.
We found a picnic table and firepit. I made the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Kenny started a fire. We intended on having the sandwiches for lunch BUT we stayed at the lake for so long they ended up being more like dinner. We roasted marshmellows and made smores and Emily decided it was ghost story time. She told a story about Vampires, Kenny told a story about Werewolves and Ty told a story about Ghosts.
Sitting there with my little family around the fire laughing and talking just gave me the best feeling. That is what family time is all about! We got home with just enough time to put the kids in the tub to wash away the camp fire smell and climb in bed for school the next day.
It really was the perfect day!

Sweet little Emmie

Ty just cracks me up!  He is a FINDER of THINGS! All things great and small.  If there is a penny on the ground... this kid with FIND IT!!!  He is always collecting and gathering.  As we were walking along the frozen lake shore he found different rocks, sticks and tiny things that he though were worth picking up.  He also found a fishing bobber.  I think he is so cute.  I always have to be careful when I am washing his pants to make sure to check the pockets first!  I have made him promise me that he will NEVER put bugs or snakes in his pocket.  Hopefully he wont forget that promise!!!!

The only thing we forgot were chairs.  It was too cold to not stand by the fire so we found some logs to sit on.  Emily hated it when the smoke would change direction and blow in her face.  I told her that smoke only follows beauty so she should be flattered that she was getting it in the face.  That made her laugh.

I love my little family!  Thanks for the great idea Kenny!

I Know... I Know... More Cat Picture

November 21, 2009

I know... I know... MORE cat pictures.... But if you know me, you know that the cats are part of the family. Our first two kids were Smokey and Myah. We have had them for 11 years in March 2010! The thing that warms my heart is that my kids are cat lovers too... especially Ty! We have these two new kittens that were born in our barn a few months ago and they come in the house every day to play with us. Tiger is very mellow just like Myah, doesnt scratch or bite. Then there is little spit fire Pepper! Ty made a HUGE bed by the fire out of pillows and blankets tonight because the kitties were out in the barn and he thought they were freezing. Tiger didnt stay long before he jumped up on the couch and crashed, but I thought it was so cute!

New Moon at Midnight!

November 19, 2009

~~~WOOHOO for NEW MOON~~~
Steph hooked us up with tickets to the "New Moon Experience" at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. We had such a great time together. Heres who went.... Me, Mom, Becky (all the way from New Denver), Steph, Ade, Andy, Christy and Joanie.
We watched a concert before the movie and walked around for a little bit to see all the booths that they had. My favorite part was the photo booth. We all crammed in and posed together for four pictures. We had to do it twice because the first time we didnt realize that we were missing Ade!!!!
The movie totally blew Twilight away! The acting was better! The special effects were insanely better! But I think that the best part was being together with all the girls! I wish that we did that on a more regular basis! Life just gets so busy. The next movie comes out in June of 2010! Are you up for it sisters?!?!?!
Mannheim Steemrollers with my Mom
November 18, 2009
My mom and I went on a date to the Mannheim Steamrollers concert. She has always wanted to go so I took her for her birthday which is coming up on December 4th. It was at Abravanal Hall in Salt Lake, and was spectacular. It was so neat to hear in person the music I have listened to on the radio every Christmas for years! They actually were celebrating their 25th season of Christmas music. Chip Davis, the creator had neck surgery so he didn't perform but he came out before and after and said a few words.
It was so great to spend some one on one time with my mom. She is truly one of my best friends!
